Welcome to My Carnival
Hi, I'm Grace from China. I have three cousins, two are older than me, and the other is younger. The younger one spent her time with me for 15 years, and she has the same age with me, which is 17. We played together since we were born, and we studied in the same class of the same school since we were in primary school. Therefore, when I leave my home and stand in the airport, her eyes are always full of tears.
The reason that I put my younger cousin as the opening is that I am missing her now, so I put my thought on paper. I love music and literature, and I love writing.
I am a quiet person, but not shy. I like to share my feelings on the paper so that the every moment and feelings I wrote down become alive and I could catch my memory by reading them. Then, I would have a strong feeling of satisfaction, even though some writings record sadness and regret.
I like watching movies alone, reading books and listening to music, but if I have to choose which one I like the most, I prefer listening to music. I used to listen to classical music in my childhood only because I learned to play the piano at that time, and the teacher asked me to play Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and so on. I did understand their music, but I knew I hated Bach until recently. Bach's music style is fugue, which means you mostly will play the melody on your right hand and repeat the melody on your left hand when the right hand's melody isn't over. Simply saying is that Bach's music is difficult and boring.
However, I get the difference experience when I listen to the same music. I used to feel Tchaikovsky's music was so romantic and was so great, but now I thought the music is over exaggerating which is overwhelming sometimes. I start to appreciate the pop music recently, and I begin to understand the emotions behind the lyrics. "Writing's On The Wall", "Shape of My Heart", and "Happier" are my favorite English songs.
The music can show a spirit world to you, and the world could change when you have a different experience in a different time at a different location. Literature and performance have the same function, and that's why I choose this class. When I read a book, I go into a spirit world that author tells. Then, I try to understand characters, and I would love to imagine how it would be if the characters are the real people. It is would be so fun if we act the character out. Sometimes I understand the character in a different way, but I believe it is not bad if we have our own understanding of those characters.
Loneliness is a carnival for the one. Carnival is loneliness of many. When you are writing or reading alone, you are not lonely because there would be a wonderful spirit carnival for you to join. Welcome to my carnival.
